PEARL HARBOR SAILOR BURIAL 1-5-17

A U.S. sailor killed at Pearl Harbor during World War II will soon be buried at Barrancas National Cemetery. On December 7, 1941, petty officer 1st Class Walter Sollie of Myrtlewood, Alabama, was on the USS Oklahoma when it was torpedoed and capsized when attacked by Japanese aircraft. 429 crewmen – including Sollie – died. He will be buried on January 6th after a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. at the base chapel followed by internment services at the national cemetery.
