ALABAMA ESCAPEE RECAPTURED 1-6-17

A convicted rapist who escaped from the Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore yesterday has been recaptured. Alabama Department of Corrections officials say 37-year-old Bobby Campbell and 24-year-old Mitchell Worthy were taken into custody around 2 p.m. yesterday in Montgomery. They were found at hotel where both surrendered without incident. The Department of Corrections reported Campbell’s release as an escape after officials discovered a fraudulent court document in his file ordering his transfer from the Fountain Correctional Facility to the Barbour County Jail and subsequent release. Campbell was serving a 20-year sentence on a 2004 rape conviction in Houston County. Worthy was charged with aiding in Campbell’s escape.
