MEDICAL EXAMINER AUDIT

The Okaloosa County’s Department of Inspector General said an audit shows that District 1 Medical Examiner Andrea Minyard received over $673,000 in salary last year and another 1.14 million dollars in professional fees. The audit said there were instances where costs were being reimbursed by the counties without sufficient supporting documentation and that public funds were used to pay for such things as employee birthday parties, provide bonuses and pay her daughters $77,000 to work for her during the summer months between 2010 and 2017. Minyard was appointed in 2004 by then Governor Jeb Bush, but the Okaloosa County Commission voted unanimously on May 1st not to endorse her reappointment as medical examiner.
