OKALOOSA CHILD ABUSE CASE

The Northwest Florida Daily News is reporting that former Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy Glenn Hand, now a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, was the subject of internal and criminal investigations before he switched agencies. Hand is believed to be the source of a threatening phone call made to Eddie Perillo the father of a 4-year-old autistic student who was allegedly mistreated by a school district employee. 4 employees were eventually arrested for their involvement or for failing to report child abuse. Hand’s wife Brandi, was secretary to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Stacie Smith who was one of those arrested. The Highway Patrol has placed Trooper Hand on administrative leave pending a review of the allegations.
