DRIVER CONVICTED OF LESSER OFFENSE

A 46-year-old Georgia man who was charged with a felony after being involved in a fatal 2015 crash that occurred while he appeared to be having a seizure, has been found guilty of a lesser offense. Jack Payne Jr., was facing a charge of driving without a valid license resulting in death for the September 2015 crash on Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach that killed 51-year-old Albert Dempsey. Jurors found Payne was only guilty of driving without a valid license. Payne and Dempsey were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and troopers said alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
