ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT

The Trump administration has announced it wants to rework the Endangered Species Act, which seeks to prevent plants and animals from becoming extinct. The Endangered Species Act was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in 1973. Proposed changes would make it is easier to remove species from the protected list. The proposal also makes changes that would speed the approval process that federal agencies are required to complete before making changes that could harm endangered species. Greg Sheehan, Deputy Director if the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said the goal is to protect species while reducing the regulatory burden on the American people.
