PANAMA CITY POLICE OFFICER WOUNDED

A Panama City police officer and a man involved in a domestic disturbance were both shot during an exchange of gunfire on Wednesday. When police responded to a call about a domestic dispute on Clay Avenue, the armed, male subject barricaded himself inside the home.  Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team were trying negotiate with the subject when he came out of the residence and began shooting. Police returned fire and the man went down. The wounded officer suffered a minor flesh wound. The unidentified man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. Since it was an officer-involved shooting, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
