FLORIDA HEALTH CARE CRITICIZED

The American Cancer Society political-action committee says Florida is failing to take more steps to prevent cancer and not expanding access to health care for uninsured working adults. However, they did say Florida is doing better with a Medicaid program that treats women with breast and cervical cancer. The Legislature agreed to use recurring money to fund the Mary Brogan Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, named after former Lieutenant Governor Frank Brogan’s late wife. Florida was also criticized for not passing a law to ban minors from using tanning devices.
