WALTON COUNTY TEACHER DISCIPLINED

A Walton County teacher who left a 6-year-old asleep and unsupervised under a desk in a classroom last year has been disciplined by the state. Doralyn Sue Sasser was a kindergarten teacher at Maude Saunders Elementary School, and left the child for about 25 minutes in May of 2017. She told school officials she was unable to wake the child to attend a graduation performance in the school’s auditorium, so she left him in the locked room. The Florida Department of Education ruled that Sasser will keep her teaching certificate but is not allowed to teach students in pre-K through third grades.
