PENSACOLA BEACH TO NAVARRE ROAD REMAINS CLOSED

The National Park Service says Highway 399 between Pensacola Beach and Navarre will remain closed through mid-January because of damage from Hurricane Michael. Dan Brown, superintendent of Gulf Islands National Seashore, said it will take at least three months to repair the damaged sections of the road. Plans are to lower some elevated sections of the roadway’s embankments to prevent them from being washed out in the future. The park service also said it will reopen the road to Fort Pickens and campgrounds in the Fort Pickens on Friday morning.
