SECRET SISTER SCAM

The Better Business Bureau of Northwest Florida says citizens should be aware of a holiday scam. Called the “Secret Sister Exchange” it’s similar to chain letter gift exchanges that were popular in the 1990s and the email chain letters that followed in the early 2000s. Participants are asked to send a ten-dollar gift to a name on the list, then add their own name. Scammers say participants will eventually receive 36 gifts, but the Better Business Bureau say it is just a scam and advise anyone who is contacted to ignore any such requests and that such chain letters are illegal.
