MISSISSIPPI BLUES TRAIL MARKER

The Mississippi Blues Commission says Pensacola’s Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood will be recognized with a historical marker, the 203rd marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail. Historians say local bands and touring acts such as such as B.B. King, Junior Parker and Sam Cooke found a welcome base in Belmont-DeVilliers’ African-American business and entertainment district. The marker will be unveiled on January 18th at 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Belmont and DeVilliers Street. Following the dedication ceremony, the Belmont All-Star band will perform a live jam session.
