MID-BAY BRIDGE REPAIRS

The Florida Department of Transportation is working with a contractor to complete a plan to make permanent repairs to the Mid-Bay Bridge, but does not have a completion date yet. The 3.6-mile-long, two-lane toll bridge that crosses Choctawhatchee Bay was closed January 8th after problems were found with steel cables that reinforce the bridge. After temporary repairs, the bridge reopened January 15th to two-axle vehicles and limited EMS and first-responder equipment. However, semitrailers and commercial vehicles still must use alternate routes until permanent repairs are completed.
