The escaped Alabama work release inmate who stole an Escambia County Alabama Sheriff’s Department pickup and drove it into Jay on Tuesday, was arrested in Alabama yesterday morning. 28-year-old Herbert Adams was taken into custody in Pollard, Alabama, about 15 miles north of Jay, Florida. After escaping from an inmate work site north of Flomaton, Adams drove the stolen pickup into Jay where he abandoned it. Adams was serving time on drug charges and now faces additional charges of vehicle theft and escape.
