BAY COUNTY HURRICANE RECOVERY MONEY

Bay County officials say they expect to get around 46 million dollars in federal reimbursement for Hurricane Michael recovery spending in the next few weeks. The money will be used to help reimburse the estimated 100 million dollars already spent on recovery in unincorporated areas. Joel Schubert, assistant county manager, said the $46 million would cover debris removal and emergency response after Hurricane Michael. The county estimates it will spend more than $400 million for hurricane recovery, 70 percent of that for debris removal. The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently awarded Panama City 7.4 million dollars in reimbursement money, Mexico Beach more than 2 million dollars and more than $100,000 to the city of Parker.
