Effective April 30th ECUA is terminating their contract with Santa Rosa County for the transportation and processing of recyclables effective April 30th. County officials said they are working with ECUA on a new contract. Santa Rosa County said in a prepared statement that significant changes may need to be made to provide a sustainable recycling program in the future because of increased costs for transportation and processing combined with a limited number of markets since China recently stopped accepting recyclables from the United States.
