OIL DRILLING PLAN DELAYED

President Trump’s administration has decided to hold off on expanding offshore drilling indefinitely. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt said a March ruling by a federal judge in Alaska disrupted the agency’s announcement of a new five-year plan for oil and gas drilling in federal waters, a plan that was heavily opposed by the state’s congressional delegation. The federal judge ruled that a 2017 Trump administration order revoking an Obama administration ban on oil and gas drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans was illegal. Bernhardt told the Wall Street Journal that the administration will have to delay the new five-year plan while it appeals that ruling.
