Authorities at the Century Correctional Institution say two women were caught attempting to smuggle contraband into the facility by concealing the items inside their bodies. 38-year-old Rukeiya Heywood, was arrested this week on a warrant and booked into the Escambia County Jail on a $35,500 bond. The other woman has not yet been arrested. Staff members were conducting narcotics checks on vehicles in the parking lot on September 3rd when a K-9 alerted on a car. Heywood and the other woman were searched by female officers, who found two rubber balloons wrapped in condoms inside their bodies. Each package contained two cell phones, SIM cards, two phone chargers, and 8-grams of marijuana.
