A proposed settlement between the District 1 Medical Examiner and Escambia and Okaloosa counties has fallen through after Escambia County rejected a settlement agreement with Dr. Andrea Minyard. Minyard was not reappointed after a “no-confidence vote” from leaders in the four counties she serves over the nondisclosure of her financial records and questions about her professional fees. Minyard filed a breach of contract suit and Okaloosa County agreed to settle, but only if Escambia County went along with the agreement. An Escambia County spokesperson says negotiations will continue.
