The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that a local political consultant has filed a lawsuit against Escambia County Commissioner Doug Underhill. Scott Miller is alleging that a comment the commissioner posted on Facebook was libelous. Underhill criticized Miller’s role in the Rolling Hills landfill issue in the Wedgewood community. The lawsuit claims that Underhill accused Miller of being responsible for the pollution in Wedgewood and for working with Larry Newsome, a former assistant county administrator, to drive people out of the neighborhood. Gregory Smith, Miller’s attorney, said Underhill’s statement was false, malicious and defamatory and has caused Miller to suffer damage.
