ARREST FOR THREAT AGAINST DEPUTY

A 22-year-old Escambia County man has been arrested after he threatened to kill Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies who shot his brother last month. Matthew Berry-Rivera was arrested Monday for making threat against public servant. On May 12th, a deputy shot 19-year-old Jerome Berry, as he tried to escape out a back window of a home in the 1200 block of Albuquerque Circle as deputies were attempting to arrest him on a warrant. His brother Matthew was with a group of irate bystanders standing outside the crime scene and he was heard to say he was going to shoot and kill the deputies who shot his brother. Based on his statement a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was booked into the Escambia County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
