The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a 57-year-old Milton man has been charged for possessing a gopher tortoise in his home. An FWC officer went to his residence after they received information that he had a tortoise and found a Gopher Tortoise in an aquarium under the carport. Gopher tortoises are listed as a threatened species in Florida, and it is a crime to harass, capture, possess, or sell any gopher tortoise or their eggs. The man was charged with second-degree misdemeanor.
