PEDESTRIAN HIT BY DEPUTY

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 13-year-old pedestrian was injured yesterday afternoon after being after being struck by an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. FHP spokesman Lieutenant Eddie Elmore said it happened about 4:45 p.m. on West Fairfield Drive near North “L” Street. Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sergeant Melony Peterson said the deputy was making a left-hand turn when the teenager ran out in front of the deputy’s patrol vehicle. The teenager was not seriously injured and the deputy was not cited.
