Santa Rosa County has voted to approve an interlocal agreement with Escambia, Okaloosa and Walton counties that would make Santa Rosa County the administrator for the contract for a new medical examiner. A nonprofit organization will be established and the four counties will contract for autopsy services, as opposed to contracting with a private business as they do now. The State Medical Examiner’s Commission chose not to reappoint Doctor Andrea Minyard for another term and her last day is September 30th. A search committee unanimously voted to hire California forensic pathologist Scott Luzi as the new medical examiner.
