The Florida Highway Patrol says it may take months to determine the cause of Sunday’s double-fatal traffic crash in Walton County. It happened 9 p.m. Sunday on Highway 98 near County Road 395. 17-year-old Caroline Long, from Panama City. and 23-year-old Kassidy Namniek, from Destin, were both killed. Troopers said Namniek was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided with Long and both were pronounced dead at the scene. Although the lead investigator did not detect any indicators of alcohol at the scene, the investigation will include a toxicology screen.
