A lawsuit brought by the Sandshaker Lounge on Pensacola Beach against the nearby Shaka Bar has been settled. The lawsuit alleged Shaka Bar’s name was too similar to the Sandshaker’s name and sought damages for lost business. The case was dismissed after a settlement. The Sandshaker must pay $100,000 or stop its long-running fight against the Shaka Bar. The Shaka Bar opened in 2013 and attorneys for the bar its name refers to the Hawaii hand sign used by surfers and means “hang loose.”
