SANTA ROSA COUNTY LAND DONATION

The Tallahassee-based Trust for Public Lands will give Santa Rosa County 5-acres of sound-side land on Navarre Beach. The donation – valued at two million dollars – comes with stipulations that the land can only be used for park and conservation purposes and can never be developed, except for a pavilion, kayak launch or other public amenities. The donation of the land all but ensures the easternmost portion of Navarre Beach will never be developed. The money is part of the RESTORE Act, from the Natural Resource Damage Assessment or NRDA (“Nerda”) fund, which compensates communities for damage caused by the 2010 BP oil spill.
