HIGHWAY 98 TRAFFIC FATALITIES

The Florida Highway Patrol said three people were killed in a fiery crash yesterday on the Escambia County side of the Highway 98 bridge to Lillian, Alabama. Troopers say 19-year-old Russell Drummund, of Elberta, Alabama, was eastbound on the bridge about 4:50 a.m. when his car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a truck hauling lumber. Drummund and his passenger, 19-year old Christian Beech of Lillian, were both ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 48-year old Sheldon Ray Liddell of Pensacola, also died at the scene. The truck caught fire and the bridge was closed for hours.
