ECUA RECYCLING MANAGER ARRESTED

The former manager of Emerald Coast Utilities Authority’s recycling facility has been charged with stealing more than $510,000. Escambia County Sheriff’s investigators say 42-year-old Jarrell Reynolds created a shell company and sold recycling material collected by ECUA to three other companies. Two of the companies were led to believe that they were buying from ECUA and that Reynolds’ company was acting as a broker. Reynolds withdrew most of the money from his account and used $16,000 as a down payment on a Porsche. When questions were asked by an ECUA auditor about the transactions Reynolds resigned from his job. He was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $100,000 bond. ECUA Executive Director Steve Sorrell said ECUA is actively pursuing criminal prosecution.
