NEW PENSACOLA CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Pensacola Councilwoman Jewel Cannada-Wynn, who represents District 7, has been elected to the council presidency. Councilman Jared Moore was elected Vice President. This is Cannada-Wynn’s last year on the council as she has announced she won’t seek re-election in 2020. She was first elected in 2004, defeated in 2010 and re-elected in 2012. Andy Terhaar, the current council president, and Councilwoman Sherri Myers were absent from Tuesday’s meeting. Myers had nominated herself for council president, but asked to be removed from consideration because she thought Cannada-Wynn deserved the position, and because she didn’t think she had enough votes to win.
