The 2019 hurricane season has come to an end. Although it was an active season in the Atlantic Tropical Storm Nestor was the only storm to threaten Northwest Florida making landfall on St. Vincent Island near Apalachicola. The season produced 18 named storms, including six hurricanes of which three were major storms of Category 3 or higher. Hurricane Dorian, which devastated the Bahamas, was the second strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic basin in terms of wind at185 mph. In all, four storms made landfall in the U.S. during the 2019 season: Barry, Dorian, Imelda and Nestor.
