The annual “Keep the Wreath Green” fire safety campaign began yesterday. It is a joint campaign by Escambia County Fire Rescue and the Pensacola Fire Department. During the month-long campaign, five-foot wreaths will be on display at 18 county fire stations and five city fire stations and will also be placed outside various City and County buildings as well as Cordova Mall near the food court entrance. When firefighters respond to a residential fire with damage, a green light bulb will be replaced with a red one to remind citizens of the dangers posed by fires in residential home during the holiday season. In 2018, eight bulbs were changed to red on county wreaths. The city had two red bulbs.
