TRAINING OF FOREIGN STUDENTS CAN RESUME

The Pentagon has given the Navy and other military services approval to resume training of Saudi Arabian nationals at U.S. facilities. Training for the approximately 850 Saudis at U.S bases was suspended following the fatal shooting at the Pensacola Naval Air Station on December 6th. Deputy Defense Secretary David Norquist said non-classroom training can resume once the military services have implemented a prohibition on the possession of privately owned firearms and ammunition by international military students and their families. The military services must also ensure that all international military students are under continuous monitoring for potentially disqualifying behavior. No firm date has been set for resumption of the training.
