Chocolate Fest

Gulf Coast Kids House will host the 15th annual Chocolate Fest, Saturday, April 7th at Cordova Mall.  

General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now.  GA tickets are $15 and a limited amount of VIP tickets are available for $20.  The VIP ticket gets you in one hour early to avoid long lines.  Doors open at noon for VIP and 1pm for general admission.

Myrtle Grove Cleanup

Residents in the Myrtle Grove area will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, March 14 during the Myrtle Grove Northeast Neighborhood Cleanup in District 2. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected. The general cleanup area is south of Lillian Highway, east of North 61st Avenue, west of North New Warrington Road and north of West Jackson Street. Please see the cleanup map for details.

All debris must be at the curb directly in front of your residence by 7 a.m. on the day of the cleanup. Please keep tires and paint cans separate from all other debris. Do not place piles under low-hanging lines or near poles, fences or mailboxes.

Items eligible for removal include:

  • Household appliances and electronics
  • Yard waste
  • Household junk and debris
  • Bicycles and toys
  • Old furniture and mattresses
  • Barbecue grills
  • Household hazardous waste (old paint, motor oil, chemicals, batteries)
  • Tires (limit 10 per household)

Items NOT eligible for removal include:

  • Building materials (concrete, bricks, blocks, roofing, drywall or lumber)
  • Explosives or ammunition
  • Auto parts
  • Dirt or sod
  • Vehicles or vessels
  • 55-gallon drums of fluids

Rock N' Fly Half Marathon and 5k

You’re invited to one of the biggest parties on the Gulf Coast at the 5th annual Rock N’ Fly Half Marathon and 5k is Saturday, March 17th aboard NAS Pensacola!

It’s the “All American Tour” with a timed race, awards, live music and a costume contest!  Register HERE or in the Radford Gym at NAS Pensacola.    Proceeds will benefit the Navy Marine Corps Society.

Smokin' in the Square

The 9th annual Smokin’ in the Square is March 16-18 at Community Maritime Park.  

In addition to the best BBQ on the Gulf Coast, you’ll have a blast at the Redneck Relay games, Bikes on the Bay motorcycle show, live music and the Guns & Hoses charity softball game.  Admission is free all three days!

Brandon Penegar Memorial Car Show

Gonzalez United Methodist Church will host the 5th annual Brandon Penegar Memorial Car Show, Saturday, March 17th.

All vehicle makes & models are welcome to participate.  Car registration will be from 8:00-11:00 a.m. on March 17th. They will have live music from The Southern Revival Band and food and refreshments will be available for purchase.  All proceeds from our annual car show benefit the GUMC Youth Group.  This event is free to spectators.

Go Irish on the Island Pub Crawl

Go Irish on the Island at the annual St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl, Saturday, March 17 on Pensacola Beach. The Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual pub crawl , which features 11 participating beach bars, restaurants and hotels serving up Irish drink specials, music and mischief.

The event begins at 10am at Crabs We Got ‘Em and will make stops at Casino Beach Bar & Grille, The Dock, Holiday Inn Resort, Paddy O’Leary’s, Paradise Bar & Grill, Flounders Chowder House, The Sandbar, Shaggy’s, Bamboo Willie’s and the Sandshaker.  T-shirts are $12 each and all proceeds from the event will benefit Covenant Care.

Seagrass Awareness Celebration

Learn about seagrasses, the marine creatures that live there, and how to protect them at the 18th annual Seagrass Awareness Celebration. The free event will be held Sat., Mar. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shoreline Park South in Gulf Breeze.
Family-focused activities include: live marine life in touch tanks, “eat a seagrass bed,” seining, games, fishing, marine creatures, marine debris, arts and crafts including making shark tooth necklaces, boating and water safety, kayaking and food vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, hat, water shoes, and lawn chairs.

Gulf Breeze Springfest

Gulf Breeze Springfest is Saturday, March 24th at Gulf Breeze Rec Center.  

Admission is free and they will have lots of fun activities including a laser tag obstacle course, bounce houses, gumbo cookoff, live music, farmers market and lots more. The event will be capped off with a fireworks show at 8pm!

Pensacola Beach Lifeguard Tryouts

Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will host a tryout event Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m. at the University of West Florida Aquatic Center, located at 11000 University Parkway, Bldg. 72.

Position requirements for employment include the following
Able to swim 600 yards in a pool in 10 minutes or less
Able to run 1.5 miles on a track in 12 minutes or less
Be at least 16 years old
Possess a valid driver’s license
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is preferred

The Pensacola Little Theatre proudly presents Cabaret: Midnight in Paris. Cabaret is Pensacola Little Theatre’s premier annual fundraiser. This year’s event will be Saturday, March 24th, 2018 starting at 7pm.

Chili, Cars & Kids

Santa Rosa Kids House will host the 2nd annual Chili, Cars & Kids event, Saturday, March 24th at Ollie’s Neighborhood Grill in Milton.  

They’ll have a car show, chili cook-off and kid’s corner from 10am – 2pm.  The car show will feature five classes with trophies for the winners and prizes for the chill cook-off winners.  

Proceeds will be donated to Santa Rosa Kids House.

Family Fun Day

Tanyard Reunion Committee will host a Family Fun Day, Saturday, March 24th from 11am – 2:30pm at Excelsior Lodge. 

The event will feature DJ Big Ron along with free popcorn and drinks, bounces house, horseshoe tournament and guest speakers.  They will also be selling hot dogs, smoked Italian sausages and dessert.

Jelly Bean 5k

Trinity Presbyterian Church will host the inaugural Jelly Bean 5k, Saturday, March 31st.  

It’s a timed 5k that will take you through the Cordova Park neighborhood.  After the race stick around for games, activities and food.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Living Waters for the World.

Tire Amnesty Day | Escambia County

Escambia County residents will have an opportunity to dispose of up to eight tires per person free of charge at the Escambia County Tire Amnesty Day event on Saturday, March 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. 

The event will take place in the parking lot of the Escambia County Public Safety Building, 6575 N. W St.   

Proof of Escambia County residency is required to participate, such as a driver’s license, power bill or voter registration card. The event is for residents only; no businesses, please. Residents will be allowed to dispose of up to eight tires, on or off the rim, per resident. Only car tires and light truck tires will be accepted. 

This event is for waste tires only. Household hazardous waste and electronics will not be accepted.

Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge

Firefighters from all across the southeast will be on the white sands of Pensacola Beach for the 3rd annual Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge, April 14.  

Firefighters will be in full gear including boots, gloves, air packs, helmet & mask as they tackle the obstacle course.  The course includes:

Forced Entry
Charged Hose Drag
Kaiser Sled
Dummy Drag
Hose Hoist

Teams and individuals will compete side-by-side in the sand just west of the Gulfside Pavilion at Casino Beach.  There will be a team check-in and team party from 5-9pm, Friday, April 13th and then the Firefighters Challenge will begin at 9am on April 14th.  Spectator admission is free.

Grief Share

First Baptist Church in Gulf Breeze is hosting Support Group Meetings for individuals dealing with grief, loss of a loved one, or divorce. The 13 week courses are nationally known as “GriefShare” and “DivorceCare”.  Weekly meetings are open to the community, anyone can attend, church affiliation is not required. Registration is $25, includes workbook and materials, scholarships are available.

DivorceCare meetings are held each Wednesday from 6:15 – 8:00 pm.  GriefShare meetings are held each Monday from 6-8 pm.

Arc Gateway Mardi Gras Beads


If you have unwanted Mardi Gras beads from past parades, DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY!!  Donate your beads to Arc Gateway.  They will sort, package and re-sell them.  By doing this, you will help fund programs at Arc Gateway and provide jobs for adults with developmental disabilities in our community.

Road to Recovery

Road To Recovery Web Ad

American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to drive cancer patients to their treatment through the Road to Recovery program.

There are many cancer patients in our community that are too ill to drive or have no means of transportation to receive their life saving treatment.  Volunteer drivers donate their time to ensure that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need.  Drivers are needed all throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa County.

Baptist Health Care is currently providing free mammograms to eligible women in our community.  Funds from last October’s “Bras Across the Bridge” event are available to provide the free screenings.
