LED STREET LIGHTS 10-4-16

A new study from the American Medical Association says LED streetlights could be harmful to drivers. An LED light consists of a blue chip light, surrounded by a phosphorous coating, which is activated by the blue light, creating high-intensity light with a lower amount of energy. However, over time the phosphorous coatings allowing the intensity of the blue light to increase past acceptable levels. The American Medical Association says that could cause blurriness, headaches, sleep apnea, heart disease, even cancer.  Additional research is needed to determine effects of long-term exposure of LED streetlights.
