A judge has sentenced a former Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy to 30 years in prison for sex crimes against a child. Walter Thomas, was found guilty of the three counts brought against him. A second Escambia County deputy – Mark Smith – who was accused in what has been dubbed the ‘swinger’ case, was found not guilty on similar charges.
