The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department says a fugitive was caught after running from police and starting a fire to avoid arrest. 31-year-old Jon White was wanted for numerous felonies when he was reported to be at a Walmart store in Niceville. When a deputy tried to question him White shoved the deputy and ran from the store and into a wooded area where he lit a fire to avoid arrest. Some hours later he was taken into custody after being spotted riding in a car with an expired tag. White was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail on several charges including resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement officer. He is also a suspect several other local burglaries and Covington County, Alabama, has placed a hold on White as well.
