PELICAN DROP 10-27-16

The Downtown Improvement Board took over the event in 2012, but decided to eliminate the Pelican Drop six months ago because they felt their time and money could be better spent. Now, Buck Mitchell, Seville Quarter’s marketing director, along with Karen Sindel and Angela Eddy,   are working to bring public and private entities to together to put on the end-of-the-year celebration, which costs more than $80,000 to put on. He hopes that funding will come from the city and county as well as business owners who benefit from the estimated three million dollars the partiers spend that night. Mitchell said the number one priority is making sure the people of Pensacola know they can plan on ringing in the new year with Pelican Drop.
