An Escambia County woman, missing since last Saturday, has been found in north Escambia County. A silver alert was issued on Sunday after 83-year-old Shirley Cooey hadn’t been seen by her family in over 24 hours. Family members say it was a miracle that 83-year Shirley Cooey was found alive. She was in her car that was stuck in the sand on a dirt road off Highway 29. She was located by two Escambia County deputies who responded to a report of a suspicious person. Cooey had apparently been living in the car, which had a dead battery. She had some food, but no water. She was taken to Jay Hospital in Santa Rosa County for treatment of severe dehydration.
