CITY FIRE CADET PROGRAM 11-17-16

The Pensacola Fire Department plans to reinstitute their cadet program after it was discontinued ten years ago. The program provides the necessary schooling to become a certified firefighter and pays $8.68 per hour, No prior fire-fighting experience is required. Chief David Allen said the goal is to find local people who want to continue live and work in Pensacola and to reduce the high turnover rate at the department. Over the past four years 36 firefighters have been hired, but 17 have left for other departments. The six-month program begins February and those interested should apply through the City of Pensacola’s website by November 25th.
