GULF COAST PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE 11-18-16

Passenger train service may be returning to the Gulf Coast. Passenger rail service was stopped because of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  The Gulf Coast Rail Service Working Group was established in December 2015 to evaluate the restoration of rail passenger service between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Orlando, Florida. The group includes members from the federal railroad administration, Amtrak, West Florida Regional Planning Council and other stakeholders. Florida Senator Bill Nelson is on the committee that will review the final report.
