Firefighters from Florida and Alabama battled a fire at a Lumber company in Atmore, Alabama, over the weekend. The fire was reported about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in an area behind the main sawmill. Dozens of firefighters from Atmore, Poarch, Nokomis and Walnut Hill battled for hours to contain the fire. The major portion of the fire was extinguished within a couple of hours, but some areas continued to smolder and burn well into the morning. There were no reports of any injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
