The 2016 hurricane season ended yesterday and it was the first time in more than ten years that Florida was hit by a hurricane. Hurricane Hermine came ashore near St. Marks, south of Tallahassee, on September 2^nd. Hurricane Matthew before making landfall Oct. 8 in South Carolina. Hermine resulted in 95-million dollars in property-damage, while Hurricane Matthew reached 606 million dollars. The last major storm to hit Florida was Hurricane Wilma, a Category 3, which struck Southwest Florida in October of 2005.
