The Pensacola Fire Department says one man was hospitalized after a Saturday morning fire at the Carlton Palms Condos on Garden Street. Pensacola Fire Chief David Allen said thick smoke extended from the first floor to the fourth floor of the building. An initial assessment indicates the fire appears to have been started by a butane torch in an apartment. Firefighters found the resident inside the apartment unconscious and suffering from smoke inhalation. He was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported and the State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
