HALLMARK SCHOOL TO BE DEMOLISHED 1-12-17

An 89-year-old old elementary school is set to be demolished after closing more than five years ago. The demolition permit has been approved for Hallmark Elementary School at “E” and Government Streets, was built in 1928 and is named for Judge George Hallmark a prominent man in Pensacola because of his time as an educator and principal. The school was closed in June 2011, but the building does not fall under the city’s historic preservation rules. The demolition company said work likely won’t start until March.
