International Paper is reportedly now offering payments of $500 to residents in areas affected by the explosion earlier this month. The company said the payment is to assist those affected during their time of inconvenience. WEAR TV3 said International Paper is not requiring any kind of release or waiver of claim be signed to get the payments. The company has also announced that parts of the Cantonment mill will be restarting soon and that nearby residents may notice steam and hear loud noises as part of that process. The mill has been closed since the explosion on Sunday, January 22nd.
