SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION 2-2-17

A South Florida group called the Florida Action Committee wants to change the laws regarding the registration of sex offenders in the state. More than 65,000 people are on the state’s registry. The state requires all sex offenders, regardless of the circumstances, to register for life. Gail Colletta heads the group wants to divide the current classification system into three categories based on the likelihood that sex offenders will repeat their crime. According to the statute, the only way to get off the registry is to have a court order issued that states the offender is no longer required to register.
