The manhunt for murder suspect Billy Boyette and his female companion is over. Boyette and Mary Rice were located at a motel in West Point, Georgia, by law enforcement officers who surrounded the building. Rice eventually gave herself up and moments later Boyette died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Boyette was wanted for two murders in Milton, one in Baldwin County, Alabama, as well as the home invasion and fatal shooting of Kayla Crocker, a 28-year-old woman whose white 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was stolen from her West Escambia County home several days ago. That car was spotted early yesterday morning at the West Point Motel and deputies from Troup County, Georgia, confirmed it was stolen. When law enforcement officers entered the room after Rice surrendered they found Boyette dead. Rice was transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Department for questioning. It is not known if Rice will be extradited back to Florida or Alabama to face charges of being an accessory after the fact.
