The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a 28-year-old Cantonment man was arrested after leading state law officers on a high-speed chase after being spotted night hunting. It began when an air unit guided a ground unit to a suspected night hunter in a vehicle off Highway 99A. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled. He eventually crossed into Alabama on Barrineau Park Road where he was stopped and identified as Waylon Adams. FWC officers found rifle ammunition in the car and a female passenger told officers that Adams threw a rifle out of the vehicle. He was booked into the Baldwin County, Alabama, Jail and later extradited to Florida to face variety of charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, night hunting, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Adams was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $38,000 bond.
