If you noticed a thick column of black smoke in West Pensacola yesterday around 11:30am it was caused by a debris fire at a salvage yard that got out of control. It happened at the G.S.I. Recycling Plant in the 1700 block of Green Street and the fire sent a black cloud of smoke into the air. Firefighters from Escambia Fire-Rescue extinguished the blaze and no injuries were reported.
